Background
Northern International Medical College was established in 2005 by a group of dedicated people to provide quality medical education, research and services to people of Bangladesh at reasonable cost. Since its inception Northern International Medical College has been playing an important role in developing human resources for health in Bangladesh.

To maintain the reputation in the field of higher education in medical science and research and to remain in the forefront of health care services, technology and education, the Health Foundation Ltd. established Northern International Medical College with a vesting to develop it as a trend setter institute, so as to demonstrate a high standard of undergraduate education in Medicine.

COURSE OFFERED & AFFILIATION
The college offers 5 year’s MBBS course as approved BMDC leading to MBBS degree of the University of Dhaka. The college has been accorded permission by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and is affiliated with the University of Dhaka.

GOALS & OBJECTIVES
The goal of the college is to create Leaders of medical profession, who are competent, committee, caring and willing to serve the community.

The college is to provide on excellent broad based education with a focus on professional development for the students to equip them with knowledge, skills and attitude necessary not only to address the priority health problems of the community but also to acquire a firm basis for future training and studies,

The campus
The present campus of the college is located at Plot # 8A, Road # 7, Dhanmondi, Dhaka-1205 in the heart of Dhaka City. It has excellent communication links from all parts of the city and from outside.

The campus at Dhanmondi houses the administrative offices and five adequately equipped basic science departments namely the departments of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Community Medicine.

The departments are well furnished, fully air conditioned and adequately equipped to accommodate classrooms. Dissection hall, Laboratories and Museums, 3 Lecture halls and 2 seminar rooms have been equipped with audio visual equipments including multimedia set up.


LIBRARY
Library is located in the Annexed Building and has collection of over 2000 textbooks, references, monographs and journals in various subjects to provides up to date information’s to students and teachers. It has user-friendly open stack easy access system. The library has reading room, which can accommodate about 70 students at a time; students can also borrow Textbooks for use at home.

A modern computer laboratory with 13 computers provides the teachers and students online access to Internet and also to in course lectures, clinical materials and laboratory techniques.


FACULTY
Academic faculty now consists of 23 full-time member’s blend of a distinguished body of academic with proven teaching & research excellence and young professionals with varied experience in six academic departments of the college namely the departments of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Community Medicine these include 4 Professors, 2 Associate Professor, 5 Assistant Professors and 12 Lecturers.
